We recently visited public schools in the poorest parts of Liberia and discovered that many children were becoming dropouts because of extreme poverty or the misfortune of becoming orphans. Their parents or guardians could not afford the basic necessities for sustaining their education. They were being thrown out of school because they could not pay their tuition fees, lacked textbooks, notebooks, pencils and so forth for doing their schoolwork, and could not afford bookbags to protect their books against the rain or being lost to oblivion. So, we documented these facts and set out to help.
